Seeing in the Storm
Updated: Feb 20, 2023
A few moments ago I clicked on a YouTube video... It was 13 minutes of the destruction and devastation of the quad-state tornado, "beast." It caused damage for over 165 miles, throwing debris 30,000+ft into the air, and took around 90 lives.
I, like many others, have a difficult time remembering just how blessed I am and have been, until I read/watch things about terrible events. Then I question why? Why does it take a horrible event to make me realize how great my God is? How wonderful He has been?! While towns are being ripped apart, I'm cozy in a house with my family getting snowed upon. Some could call it lucky or random chance, but I know better.
The question that remains in my heart is "why?"
It is hard to understand God's reasoning in the journeys we walk through. Why some people walk through tragedy while others have "years of plenty." God knows everything and for everything, He has a purpose. That purpose can be seen sometimes right away, other times it can take years. The best example is the story of Jesus. He came as a baby, performed miracles, and was brutally killed upon a tree only to rise again three days later. The purpose behind that was not realized for years. He saved us.
While my heart aches for the people who have endured the pain of that storm. God has a reason for it, a purpose, a plan and it is good. Just as in everything in our life's journeys. It's hard to see a lot of the time, but take heart, He is ALWAYS there.
